In the construction of steel frame buildings on narrow sites, it is often difficult to conduct standard penetration tests due to narrow access routes, high costs, and the need for large occupied spaces. GeoTech's "Automatic Ram Sounding Test" employs an ultra-compact self-propelled machine with a width of only 830 mm, allowing for easy access even in urban sites with strict delivery restrictions. The fully automated impact penetration device can break through strata with an N value of 30 or more, which cannot be evaluated by SWS tests, and continuously collects data in 200 mm increments up to a depth of 30 m. By measuring the number of penetration blows and simultaneously measuring the rotational torque, it automatically corrects for the effects of side friction, allowing for the calculation of high-precision data that has a strong correlation with the N value from standard penetration tests. While maintaining data accuracy comparable to boring, it significantly reduces equipment setup and working time, enabling cost-effective identification of bearing layers. Additionally, its ease of use for multi-point investigations proves effective in understanding strata inclinations and localized soft layers, supporting safe and rational pile foundation design.
